Welcome

major capital campaign
The 87th Street Dog Run is the oldest run in
Riverside Park, and unfortunately is showing its age. We have already
installed a new water supply and now need to elevate the storm drain, restore the run surface,
install erosion control, repair fencing, add and repair masonry, prune
and replant the perimeter, install covered garage cans, and replace the
storage locker.
These changes will be significant, and so will their cost, estimated
to be around $60,000. So far we have raised just over $40,000.
Please join us in thanking our generous
donors and sponsors. All
maintenance and improvements to the run are wholly dependent on
financial contributions and money raised from users of the run.
Your contribution will make
these improvements possible. Business sponsors will be listed in the
2010 Upper West Side Dog Services Directory to be distributed widely
among dog lovers.

Get involved with your dog run!
We are looking for people to keep on top of
ongoing maintenance, organize events, refill the doggy doo bag
dispensers, keep the bulletin board up to date, and raise money for
ongoing upkeep and improvements. Committees are now forming for
maintenance of the run, caring for the hedges and other flora around the
run, behavior and safety, events, fund raising, and signs.
If you are interested in helping,
EMAIL US.
Even if you just have a little bit of time, it will help.
off-leash rules
On May 10, 2007, the New York City Parks Department launched a
newly clarified Off-Leash Policy formalizing off-leash privileges in
designated areas from 9 p.m. until parks close, and from opening until 9
a.m. (Of course, well-socialized, healthy, licensed dogs are welcome in
dog runs at all times when parks are open.)

OUR
POETIC PUP
"Sally" Taylor has written a poem
about her canine buddies
in the 87th Street dog run.
"We suffer our leashes and play in the dog run,
Keep an eye out for treats and bark in the park...."
